In a manifesto sent today to press outlets, Thompson focuses on dismantling the Entertainment Software Ratings Board and exposing what he calls the industry's "latest dirty little secret.
In the statement, Thompson says, "Sims 2, the latest version of the Sims video game franchise The Sims 2 is a "life simulator. Actions include everything from the spectacular getting married, having children, receiving promotions at work to the mundane cooking microwaved meals, going to the bathroom, mopping the floor. Such activities, as in real life, sometimes require nudity.
EA circumvents inappropriateness by "blurring" out the nether regions, almost to a comical sense. Knowing that the game is popular among all ages, EA has even taken steps to ensure that Sims fans aren't exposed to indecent depictions.
In the recent expansion pack, The Sims 2 University, gamers can send their teenage sims off to college. However, instead of packing the expansion with "keggers" and "reefer," EA chose to use juice and bubble blowers. Thompson doesn't seem to care. He cites a cheat code that can remove the blur that covers the nether regions. With the Sexual Content in the game.. No it isnt for younger kids or younger Teens. I dont believe it is over graphic and they do have that wonderful blur Adult Written by simpsonsfan22 March 29, This title contains: Positive Messages.
Positive role models. Helped me decide 1. Had useful details. Read my mind. Yes, there may be some sexual scenes in the game, but the "WooHoo" and "try for a baby" are shown under the covers. The covers move up and down and you hear some giggling, but after seconds it is over.
Sims can buy a bar for their home, but the only drinks are juice, or smoothies. Sims teaches many life-lessons for your children, for example: if you make your sim a lazy sim, they will refuse to go to work, therefore get fired and recieve no income.
They will not be able to afford to pay their bills, and the repo man will come and take away your stuff. Overall it is a wonderful game. My kids and I enjoy it very much. This title contains: Educational Value. Positive Messages.
Adult Written by Tiome March 5, I remember when i was a kid one of my cousins was playing it and i was curious but i wasn't allowed to play or watch them play. I feel this was right because when i eventually did play it i remember being shocked at the fact the sim actually became pregnant instead of the baby just appearing like in sims. At the moment i have a stepsister and she is around 8 and with how much i mess around with my sims theres no way id let her watch me play. Its bad enough she looked at my screen and saw a man in his underwear and commented on it.
This title contains: Sexy stuff. Adult Written by Zobotxx April 15, There are great messages and players are able to create wacky, realistic characters whom they can fall in love with or look up to. Say a woman works, gardens, and has 4 kids and is a single parent.
Players can live out her life and want to take on life like she did etc. Great messages and role models are in this game. I just downloaded this through origin in 1 or 2 hours and got graphics rules maker to fix my games graphics. Violence is mostly blurred, and sex in under covers so you can't see. Don't listen to those 8 year old kids saying ew yuck, listen to the demographic. Adult Written by Michelle A.

Instead of the cartoony graphics they use in the sims 4. In some ways the sims are more lifelike in the sims 2. Once I was single, I stumbled across a used copy of The Sims, bought it, and took it home, where I played it free from the fear of ridicule.
To be perfectly honest, there was nothing great about the first game in comparison to what came later, but it was very amusing to play. Trying to juggle a family and keep all the sims alive, pushing them through their careers, watching their funny interactions. It was worth the time. Later when I played The Sims 2, I would hear the music from the first game and find myself getting all nostalgic.
I still get a misty smile whenever I hear the music now. I think it was included in one of the expansions for The Sims 4. Which brings me to the most recent installment, The Sims 4. I consider it to be very disappointing for several reasons and probably the worst installment in the franchise. The first thing I noticed was that the base game was pretty empty. There wasn't much to do.
No swimming pools, no toddlers, no ghosts, no fun interactions, no. All of it had been stripped with the intention of cramming it into separate packs for more cash. I still find it amazing that they didn't anticipate the backlash. They didn't seem to understand that the same people who had been playing since the first game were still playing the game now and had come to expect certain elements that made The Sims — The Sims. It was kinda like if they took the chocobos out of Final Fantasy.
The chocobos are an established part of that franchise, dammit. Just like toddlers and pools and ghosts became an established part of The Sims. The Sims 4 is a shiny, happy world where nothing bad ever happens and everything's always okay. It's an expensively boring EA greed-fest. You're probably wondering why I continue to buy content for a game that I dislike so intensely.
Basically, everything past the toddlers and vampires update was pretty bad to me, like the game just became progressively worse with each "stuff pack," so I've opted to stop buying content from EA and just play my game with the first three expansions Get to Work, Get Together, City Living plus the free updates. After four years of waiting for EA to put out something worthwhile, I have finally accepted the fact that they can not and will not. Much like Bioware in its current state, Maxis is pretty much.
EA has devoured its soul. I could go back to older "Sims" games, but that is difficult. The first game has horrible graphics. The second game requires a lot of mods that no longer exist.
The third game, while amazing, was burdensome with its routing issues and glitches. Honestly, probably the best thing about The Sims 4 is that it's optimized well. It runs fast, the graphics are nice, CAS is now a breeze, and sims can multitask.
If we were in love with The Sims, the second became an obsession. Whereas the original is too dated by now, you can definitely still go back to The Sims 2 and play up a storm.
Sure, there are technical issues galore. Thankfully, modders have helped out with the slowdowns that can happen. With that alone, folks. An open world, people. The Sims 3 brought us an entirely open town that you can explore.
You can follow your sims to work now. You can send them to the beach and watch them frolic around. And the expansions were such great overhauls of already existing ones, tweaking them to add way more life to the series with each release.
It truly was such an incredible game, and it was all thanks to EA showing us that there was more to The Sims world than just the house your family was living in. There was a great big place to explore, so many sims to meet, and so much more going on out there.
